struggling twenties

When I was younger, I always wanted to be 26.

It was the age my father was when I was born. And he seemed to have everything together.

But six and a half years in, I've come to realize something.

Nothing quite prepares you for your twenties.

It's buying your own groceries after a lifetime of mum's cooking.

It's Friday nights in bed because work is damn tiring.

It's constantly being jealous of others doing something that you're not.

It's ending toxic relationships just to then feel isolated.

It's getting yourself into debt to secure a better future.

It's wishing for the 'white picket fence' whilst hoping to stay ‘young’.

It's wanting to change the world but frequently not having the energy to make your own bed.

Being in your twenties is harder than anyone ever tells you.

But you know what? Here we are. And we're killing it.

Here's to us, twenty-somethings.
